The Midreshet Rachel v'Chaya Program
The goals of the program at Midreshet Rachel v'Chaya, which include the development
of independent learning skills, and a deep understanding
of Jewish thought and spiritual growth, are best achieved
by a period of study of not less than one year. Study
is generally full-time during the day; evenings for
the most part are free. Periods of study of a more limited
duration
may be arranged. Students should ideally make plans
to arrive in Israel toward the end of summer and begin
their studies in the one-month Elul program that precedes
the High Holydays.
Intersession
Midreshet Rachel v'Chaya is not in session during the fall holidays, and studies resume, with only minor breaks, until approximately 10 days before Pesach. Beginning again, approximately one week after Pesach, studies are for the most part uninterrupted until approximately Rosh Chodesh Av, including the six-week summer program.
Extra-Curricular-Activities
Interspersed throughout the year are Jewish holiday observances, Midreshet Rachel v'Chaya tours of the Land of Israel, Shabbatonim and other special programs. Midreshet Rachel v'Chaya is a community of women who join together to celebrate life-cycle events such as engagements, weddings and births with simcha (joy), and share in other times of need.
Y'mei Iyun
Every year, Midreshet Rachel v'Chaya hosts several all-day seminars. Each of these Y'mei Iyun develops a specific theme through text study with the Midreshet Rachel v'Chaya faculty and outstanding guest scholars and educators. In the past Midreshet Rachel v'Chaya has held Y'mei Iyun before various holidays and to mark other special events.
