Plumbers
helping mothers
Sarusi Installatzia, a small plumbing firm based in Bnei Brak,
Israel, came up with a novel way of donating their services to
the community. They run plumbing seminars for single parent mothers
in the Kfar Sava area. Yair Gabai, the owner of the firm, explains
that very often these women are stuck without the money to call
in a plumber and without the know-how to deal with their plumbing
problems themselves.
Tens of women
have taken a free course that opens with a short theoretical section
and follows with practical guidance. The women learn how to drill,
fix, and deal with some basic home upkeep. Every woman who ends
the course receives a free tool set. (condensed from Maariv's
business section, "Asakim", 15 Tamuz 5759 -- June 29,
