About " Judaism in the Workplace"
Who we are
“Judaism in the Workplace” is a project of Jerusalem’s Darche Noam Educational Institutions -- Yeshivat Darche Noam / David Shapell College of Jewish Studies for Men and Midreshet Rachel College of Jewish Studies for Women.  This web-site is a natural outgrowth of the educational environment of Darche Noam, its students and its message.  The adult student body is university educated; students often come to encounter Jewish learning after extensive experience in the professional world.  One of Darche Noam’s central goals is educating how to apply the Torah’s teachings to all facets of modern life.

Darche Noam has hosted a three-day seminar on business ethics in conjunction with Jerusalem College of Technology’s Center for Business Ethics and Social Responsibility.

What we do
This site aims to serve as a learning resource on professional ethics and halakha in two ways:
1. Source provider:  The site is designed to approach each issue from the  vantage points of both Jewish law and Jewish ethics.  We include selections from the responsa literature, legal codes, and basic talmudic sources as well as explanations of  aggadic passages and selections from moral and ethical literature.  An attempt is made to balance contemporary topical articles with selections from primary sources.
2. Links and bibliography:  Get in touch with material on the web relating to professional ethics and halakha and with source material in contemporary and classical Jewish literature -- both in Hebrew and English.

[What we do not do
This site is not a quick way to get halakhic decisions or to deal with conflicts that come up in the workplace.  We are designed to provide information and  help our users get in touch with resources, whether it means referring to written sources or connecting a questioner up with a halakhic authority in their area.  We are not equipped to decide halakhic issues and would not do it over the internet even if we were.]
