Shapell’s Hashkafa Program
Our Hashkafa program is designed to help talmidim access core issues in Jewish thought and ethics, and integrate them into avodat Hashem, service of G-d. Different faculty members teach various units at different stages of the year, thus exposing our students to a range of sources and teaching styles. We cover topics like “Bitachon: Trust in G-d”; “Man and the Purpose of Existence”; “A Jew’s Relationship with G-d”; “Torah, Prophecy, and the Sages”; “The Nation of Israel and Redemption”.
The natural outgrowth of the diversity of our faculty is the variety of sources talmidim become exposed to during the year. They include Aggadta, Tefillot, and Pirkei Avot; the Rambam, Rabbi Yehuda Halevi, the Ramchal and the Beit Elokim; the Baal Shem Tov, Sefer Hatanya, and later Sifrei Chassidus; Rav Dessler, Rav Hutner, and Rav Kook. - – - Follow this link to watch Rabbi Shaya Karlinsky’s video shiur: “What is Hashkafa?”
