Eighth Annual Yarchei Kallah
August 3 - 5, 2003
"A Kingdom of Priests and a Holy Nation":
Visions of a Torah State and Contemporary Realities"
at the David Shapell
College campus,
5 Beit HaKerem St., Jerusalem
The Program

The Jewish people received the
Torah at Sinai with the intention that it be applied to the entire
expanse of life, both in the private sphere of the individual and
the collective realm of the state. While 1900 years of exile has
limited the application of Torah on the national level, the establishment
of the State of Israel has presented new challenges and opportunities.
What type of political structure does the Torah envision? What sort
of economic system does the Torah prescribe? How can technology
be harnessed to allow for the halachic functioning of a modern state?
And perhaps most importantly, how can we move from contemporary reality
to actualize the Torah vision?
