About Y.E.S.

Y.E.S is a 2 or 3 week mechina (beginner) program for men that takes place at the David Shapell College of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem.

The program is designed for students who would like to get a taste of Torah learning, as well as experiencing life in yeshiva. The daily schedule includes one-on-one text study as well as classes on a variety of topics including Chumash, Pirkei Avot, Major Topics in Jewish Thought, Introduction to Talmudic Logic, a Hebrew ulpan, and time for introspection and reflection. There are several tiyulim (trips) and activities, including meeting personalities in Jerusalem, hikes and and an overnight trip to the North. Some, but not all, classes are text-based.

An emphasis is placed on giving each student personal attention and designing a schedule right for him in a warm, friendly environment. The program takes place in the yeshiva, but all classes, tiyulim, etc. are exclusively for Y.E.S. participants.
