Approach
to Learning
A
sophisticated and balanced approach to Torah Judaism
for college graduates and professionals
Our curriculum and methodology, specifically geared
towards an educated adult
student body, has been developed by educators well versed
in the worlds of Torah, education and psychology.
We aim to open up the world of Jewish sources to
our students. Learn how to:
Develop textual and analytical skills.
Particularly at the beginning levels, emphasis is
placed on determining the precise meaning and translation
of individual words, sentences, and phrases, and understanding
their place within the conceptual framework of the text.

Independently approach our classical Jewish
sources.
Students are encouraged to see for themselves how
Torah concepts and themes are rooted in a rigorous reading
of the sources. The ability to learn on one's own especially
develops during the independent preparation sessions
that precede classes in Talmud, Chumash and Halacha.
A holistic
Torah education aimed at meeting the challenges of modern
Jewish life
The Yeshivat Darche Noam/Shapell's experience relates to the whole individual,
and takes into account the special challenges confronting
this generation of Jewish students. Learn that:
Personal, moral, and spiritual development
goes hand-in-hand with intellectual growth.
Education aims at facilitating the whole student's growth
as a Torah personality. Character
development, morality and values, and the inner side
of Torah are integrated with conceptual and practical
study.
Torah study integrates with Torah living.
Professionally guided study tours of Israel supplement
the program, bringing to life what is learned in the
classroom and beit medrash. Torah is applying
to the challenges of modern Jewish life through in-depth
discussions and workshops on marriage and relationships,
business ethics, choosing a community, relating to modern
Israel, and balancing Torah, career and family.
