Tuition & Scholarships

Tuition
Tuition and Fees for the 2009-2010 academic year are U.S. $15,500. This amount includes a $400 non-refundable registration fee due upon acceptance, activities fee, tuition, room and board. These fees are subject to periodic adjustments. Inquiries concerning fees for out of dorm students, monthly or part-time programs are welcomed.

Tuition is due in two payments - payment of half the fee is due three days after arrival and the balance of payment is due within three months after arrival.

Preferred methods of payment of tuition are cash, check or bank transfer. Payments by Visa or Mastercard are welcome, but are subject to a 2.5% surcharge due to additional bank charges incurred by Darche Noam.

Scholarships and Financial Assistance

S. Daniel Abraham Scholarship Program

Yeshivat Darche Noam/Shapell's is an approved institution for the S. Daniel Abraham Scholarship Program.  You can find more information and apply online on the Abraham Scholars Website.

* The Zoltan and Ibolya Bernat, z"l Memorial Scholarship Fund.
This scholarship provides a limited number of monthly stipends to married couples studying at Darche Noam (husband at Shapell’s and wife at Midreshet Rachel). The stipends are up to a maximum of $400 per month for living expenses and are awarded based on academic/leadership potential and financial need. For applications contact Rabbi Yehoshua Seidenfeld at couples@darchenoam.org .

* The Joseph Gritz Memorial Scholarship Fund.
This scholarship provides students unable to pay tuition with partial assistance. Criteria include applicant’s background and potential for mastering independent learning skills. Applicants must be studying at Shapell’s for a full academic year to qualify. For applications contact Rabbi Yehoshua Seidenfeld at shapells@darchenoam.org .

* MORE Scholarships and Financial Assistance
MASA - Students requiring financial assistance and meeting the criteria of the Jewish Agency's MASA long-term study scholarship program are encouraged to apply through Darche Noam. You must be under 31 years of age and registering for a program of at least 5 months. Masa will give scholarships, depending on your financial situation and country of origin, for up to a maximum of $10,000. You can find all sorts of information and an online application at the MASA website http://www.masaisrael.org/Masa/English/.
Note that assistance may also be available from a student's synagogue, JCC or Hillel. Scholarships are often available from local Federations. To find your local federation website, see the Jewish Federation List.

Jeff Seidel's Jewish Student Information Center ($500 scholarship towards airfare to come study in Israel)

Additionally, students may apply to Yeshivat Darche Noam/David Shapell College for financial aid. Assistance is available in the form of generous scholarships and work-study.
